Spotlight on decarbonisation week
at TIMAC AGRO France
How can we estimate the positive impact of our solutions
on the carbon footprint of agricultural products? How can
we support industry sectors in their efforts to decarbonise
their operations?
It was to answer questions like these that TIMAC AGRO
France launched its decarbonisation project in 2021 to
address agricultural industry expectations in terms of
productivity and quality. The f irst step in this process
was to make a series of life cycle analysis calculations,
the results of which highlighted the value added by
our products in terms of carbon impact. These results
were shared in July 2024 during TIMAC AGRO France’s
Decarbonisation Week via two webinars, one for sales
teams and the other for the press. The key points
addressed during these online sessions included the
careful attention paid by TIMAC AGRO to raw material
selection, its efforts to optimise industrial processes
and logistics, and the virtuous impact of using hi-tech
products on farms. Eff icient plant nutrition and livestock
husbandry are core challenges for TIMAC AGRO. Eff iciency
is what makes it possible to reconcile productivity with
reduced environmental impact by using tech solutions
with proven benef its in terms of carbon reduction.
“
This overarching approach is essential if we are to
reconcile the need to decarbonise our production with
the equally important need to help our customers meet
their f inancial challenges.”

A f lagship solution for vessel exhaust
gas scrubbing
This seagoing desulphurisation technology underlines the
Timab Magnesium commitment to sustainable innovation.
Since the project was launched in 2015, it has clearly
demonstrated that magnesium hydroxide offers a number
of benef its over the soda ash traditionally used in vessel
exhaust gas scrubbing systems.
A unique supply chain now ensures that products
manufactured in Europe are delivered daily to 400 of the
world’s largest ports.
Using magnesium hydroxide reduces the need for
neutralising chemicals by between 30% and 50%
compared with soda ash, delivering signif icant savings
for customers. The product is also a safe alternative
that ensures full compliance with the strict sulphur
emissions standards applied by the International Maritime
Organisation. As well as being eff icient, safe and respectful
of the marine ecosystem, this technology combines
f inancial performance with proven environmental benef its.
A team of developers, engineers, key account
coordinators and logistics experts remains in place to
further develop this innovative solution with the aim of
growing the market while remaining competitive and
ensuring a consistently high level of service excellence
and technical development. This project showcases our
ambition and ability to transform environmental challenges
into sustainable long-term opportunities.
