LEVER 2 – INNOVATION & MANUFACTURE – STRATEGY
From the Group perspective, innovation applies
equally to the quest for increasingly eff icient
agronomic solutions and optimised industrial
processes.
An investment of €5.7 million from this expenditure was
made at Magnesitas Navarras in the wet desulphurisation
technology required to reduce sulphur emissions from its
industrial process by more than 70% (see p. 19 for more
details).
Another key investment — this time of €3.4 million —
saw the purchase of a biomass boiler for the Saint-Malo
Industrial Park. Commissioned and operational in 2024, this
facility will reduce CO
2
emissions by around 2,000 tonnes
per year (see p. 25 for more details).
The Group’s focus on preventing and mitigating the
environmental impact of its industrial operations is not
limited purely to carbon or atmospheric emissions.
For example, initiatives are underway to limit the release
of plastic resins into the environment (see p. 19 for more
details), reduce mains water consumption by using
rainwater harvesting and storage systems (particularly
in France and Brazil), and store raw materials in ways that
ensure dust containment and protect soils.
In the f irst case, the Roullier World Innovation Centre
(CMI Roullier) is a real and highly effective accelerator
of performance. Its teams have a daily commitment to
improving and strengthening the natural functions specif ic
to soils, plants and animals through the technology-based
and biological products they develop to support the
restructuring of agriculture. The only one of its kind
in the world, the Roullier World Innovation Centre includes
an analytical laboratory and an integrated pilot plant
that is a scale replica of a full-size production facility.
Its multidisciplinary experts also work to optimise the
performance of manufacturing resources with cross-
functional water management and energy eff iciency
projects. The FLEXHION project (see p. 19 for more
details) is an excellent illustration of the benef its this work
produces.
To deliver tangible results, the type of industrial innovation
required by our activities must always be backed by
substantial f inancial investment. The Group further
demonstrated the strength of its commitment in 2024 with
13% of all industrial CAPEX focused directly on reducing the
environmental and energy impact of its manufacturing sites.
