With the purchase of the Profertil company from the Brazilian group Lyra in March 2005, the Roullier Group reinforces its presence in Brazil and particularly in the northeast of the country. With an annual production of approximately 450,000 tons of fertilisers manufactured on two industrial sites - Salvador de Bahia and Maceio - Profertil will allow Roullier Brasil to double its production capacity, thus increasing it to 1 million tons. With its two subsidiaries, Roullier Brasil and Profertil, the Roullier Group holds 5% of the Brazilian market shares and becomes the 6th fertiliser producer in this country.

This purchase falls within the development strategy in Latin America engaged in May 1999, when the Roullier Group, determined to consolidate the agro-supplies business in Latin America, took over the Defer Roullier company, specialised in fertilisers, the main office of which is located in Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande Do Sul.

Then, in February 2002, Roullier Brasil accelerated its development with the purchase of a bulk-blending unit in Candeias, near Salvador de Bahia. With this second unit, Roullier Brasil was present in the field, in complement to its initial unit, providing the means to develop the Group’s presence in this part of the South American continent.
