VITAS portugal acquires FALUA, a vineyard in the Tejo region

Written by Groupe Roullier / published in Industry, Events

Our subsidiary VITAS Portugal just finalised the acquisition of the wine company FALUA. This act is in line with the Groupe Roullier’s desire to boost its proximity to the agricultural sector. It also provides our Portuguese subsidiary with a real lever for growth.

FALUA is part of a project aiming to increase VITAS Portugal’s presence in its country. It allows our subsidiary, which already has 45 TSAs (Technical Sales Agents), to optimise its potential in a 400,000 tonne fertiliser market.

FALUA is a farm winery with 45 hectares of vineyards (including 15 self-owned hectares), a modern wine production site with a capacity of 3.3 million bottles per year, and 22 employees. Its product range comprises around twenty different wines (white, red, and sparkling), of which numerous have won prestigious awards. Production is destined both for the Portuguese market (around one third) and for export and marketed primarily in supermarket chains.

FALUA will therefore become a showcase of our teams’ viticultural fertilisation expertise and will help support and accelerate an upmarket shift for Portuguese wine.

We are also proud that renowned oenologist João Portugal Ramos remains associated.
